This Greeting Card (Cycles) illustrates The Orange Bellied Parrot (Neophema chrysogaster) which is one of Australia’s most endangered birds. This parrot only reaching a small size of 20cm long and is endemic to South Australia. It is a migratory bird and the whole population migrate over Bass Strait to breed in South West Tasmania. This species used to be more widespread however due to increasing habitat loss it is now classified as ‘Critically Endangered’. There are approximately 50-250 species left in the wild with further populations in a captive breeding program.
The original artwork was completed using pigment ink, fine-liner ,watercolor paint and colour pencil.
